Real-time bio-data, remote nutrition coaches, and a smart app provide personalized nutritional advice and support behavioral change.

Your Responsibilities
As a Jr Backend Developer you’ll work on backend services, help resolve support tickets, and assist with data-related questions (as a start, this will be 30%-50%-20%). This role is perfect for someone early in their career who wants hands-on experience with Python development, databases, and data analysis while contributing to meaningful projects in healthcare. 

Your daily tasks will include:
● Writing clean, maintainable Python code and contributing to backend services
● Help building APIs and backend components
● Working with relational and non-relational databases (SQL, NoSQL, RDS) to store and manage data
● Responding to support tickets and help troubleshoot issues
● Collaborating with engineers, data teams, and product teams to deliver solutions
● Assisting in analyzing and validating data, to answer questions from the team
● Participating in code reviews and follow best practices for software development
● Learn and apply new Python frameworks and data tools.

About You

Must-haves:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in backend development. This may include internships, as long as it is relevant enough (please outline in your application).

  • Good foundation in Python and basic backend principles

  • Some experience with web frameworks like Django, Flask, or FastAPI

  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, RDS)

  • Experience with Git, Jira, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)

  • Interest in data science or data analytics

  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn

  • Strong customer-focused mindset

  • Excellent listening and communication skills

  • Independent thinker, problem solver, and self-starter

  • Curious, driven, and process-oriented

  • Your entrepreneurial spirit shows in your pragmatic and hands-on approach

  • Fluent English (spoken and written)

  • Residing in the Netherlands, able to be onsite in Amsterdam every Tuesday and Thursday

Please note: you must have full work authorization for the Netherlands; visa sponsorship is not available for this role

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines

  • Familiarity with Python data libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn)

  • Experience with healthcare or regulated data environments

  • Skills in Dutch, German and/or French
